The French poet Aragon wrote and I paraphrase: “Has the artist ever painted what he sees? His darkness becomes stars and people take for roses the pain that he feels”. This drawing tells how I, the artist embellishes what I see or feel. […]
Jade Cove
I painted this oil after spending a few winter days looking for Jade on theCalifornia coast below Big Sur. Forty foot waves rolled like thunder on the narrow rocky shore below the steep and wet cliffs.
Embrace
A bright presence lights the top of a crystalline mountain becoming waterfalls. As all we are becomes All there is.
Lake View
Resting on a green terrace in the shade of a large tree, above a quiet lake. The rock formations are crystalline, painted with cadmium reds and magentas. It is a secluded place that I envision and where wish to be, a place of peace and beauty. It is painted on a French Polyester canvas stretched over a mahogany panel and measures 40 x 30 inches. The brush work is invisible.
The Aviary
This is undoubtedly the most complex of my work. Painted on French polyester canvas stretched over a mahogany panel, it measures 40 x 30 inches. It is a self portrait of my consciousness, where my face fits perfectly within the shape of a crystal, where my neck is the trunk of a tree, my hair its foliage and my face the inside of a room. These superimposed layers required much sketching and five to six months of work, where the brushwork aims to be invisible. I painted what I see and feel.

A Secret Place
A secret place This painting started as “a grisaille’, the grey undercoat painters often apply prior to introducing colors. But I like it so much in black and white that I kept it this way. I am often drawn by beautiful places in nature that are isolated with a magnificent view. Here, I imagine myself sitting in the shade of the tall tree on the rocky terrace. Softly blended, this piece has a unique appeal, personal and poetic with a waterfall and a lake in the background. This oil painting on canvas stretched over a birch panel measures 24 x 30 inch and is framed by a moulding that recalls the grey landscape.
