Painting with soft pastels is like drawing as their softness and malleability lead to infinite blending. Pastels have a unique velvety texture and a subtle range of tones. Artists such as Quentin De La Tour, Degas, Manet, Whistler and Georgia O’Keefe have left us magnificent pastels which appear to have been painted yesterday and now hang in art museums. One of my pastel may require a few months to create depth and bring out details. Whether seen as surreal, symbolic or visionary art, my pastel paintings wish to convey what I see and what I feel, an intimate caress filled with love and meaning
